About This Game Colonial Conquest is a conquest simulation set in the Victorian age of warfare and expansion of the late 1800's and early 1900's. The object of the game is to become the dominant major power throughout the world. Players can be one among six of the great powers of the time: Great Britain, Germany, France, USA, Japan or Russia.FeaturesReturn to the era of Golden Warfare and rule one of handful of powers which had been shaping the face of our present world.Sail, ride and march across the globe as your nation flexes its military and economic muscles.Supplement brawn with subterfuge and use cloak and dagger tactics such as subversion and espionage.Compete with the European hegemons in their final golden days before they engulfed the world in the flames of the first global war.Play as one of the then two raising behemoths: the United States of America or Imperial Japan; or as one of the main European power to roll them back within their boundaries.Play against the AI or other human claimants to the mastery of our planet.More about the gameYou win by either scoring the most Victory Points (VPs) or being the first to reach a certain preset VP threshold, depending on scenario and custom choices in the main menu. To do so, you must capture regions over the world, and defeat your enemies in battle. The world has about 130 regions open to conquest. The regions have variable income and VP values (set randomly in the Standard scenario) and unknown until conquered or spied upon. Each region not owned by a Major Power usually has an independent Minor country owning and defending it. Each Major country is controlled by a human player or the computer, or is designated neutral and then acts as a Minor country.Hotseat play is possible, with an option to limit to 4.00 minutes the playing time per player. Each game turn represents roughly one season. Game lasts till victory conditions are achieved.Scenarios: game offers 3 scenarios: one starting in the year 1880 with an historical setting, one in 1914 with historical positions, and an open ca-1870 standard where nation only own their starting home territories (free-for-all non-historical) The game has 3 main phases, each player entering them in sequence, i.e. Build Phase (Spring only, with: Army & Navy Construction, Fortification, Economic Aid, Espionage, Subversion), Movement Phase (Army & Navy), and Combat Phase.Gameplay of each phase is rather simple and straightforward, as follows:Army and Navy Build Phase (Spring): Create new armies and fleets in your Supply CentersFortification Phase (Spring): Fortify army units (except in Supply Centers which are already fortified). Economic Aid Phase (Spring): Lend money to other Major countries; which is added to their Treasury. Or Lend money to neutral Minor countries; which they use immediately to build armies.Espionage Phase (Spring): Learn the approximate (not always accurate) army strength and the income of a Minor country or of an region controlled by a Major country. And the region’s VP value Subversion Phase (Spring): Spend money to bribe a Minor country's army, weakening the country's defense or causing a coup (giving you control of the said country in return).Movement Phase (All turns): Move armies to adjacent regions only. Move navies alone or with armies from one port to another (or carry regiments to amphibious landings on enemy holdings). Combat Phase (All turns): up to twenty rounds of battle; each consists of naval (if ships are present) then land battles 7aa9394dea Title: Colonial ConquestGenre: Indie, Simulation, StrategyDeveloper:Argonauts Interactive, Collectif NemoïdPublisher:Plug In Digital, Argonauts InteractiveRelease Date: 28 Jul, 2015 Colonial Conquest Free Download [portable] colonial conquest wiki. colonial conquest crack. colonial conquest apk and obb. colonial conquest atari st. colonial conquest skidrow. colonial conquest meaning. descargar colonial conquest apk. colonial conquest in west africa. colonial conquest and administration of nigerian territories. colonial conquest kroah. colonial conquest ii. colonial conquest apk obb. colonial conquest of africa. colonial conquest pc download. colonial conquest free download. colonial conquest (2015). colonial conquest download apk. colonial spanish conquest. colonial conquest en ligne. colonial conquest pdf. eu3 colonial conquest casus belli. eu4 world conquest colonial nations. colonial conquest cheat engine. colonial conquest history. colonial conquest remake. colonial conquest pc game. colonial conquest 4pda. colonial conquest (2015) скачать. colonial conquest eu4. colonial conquest telecharger. colonial conquest mod apk. colonial conquest apk uptodown. eu3 colonial conquest. jeux colonial conquest. colonial conquest android apk. colonial conquest apk mod. colonial conquest. colonial conquest pc free download. colonial conquest gameplay. colonial conquest steam review. colonial conquest game rules. download colonial conquest mod apk. colonial conquest of india. colonial conquest atari. colonial conquest gratuit. colonial conquest ios. colonial conquest game. colonial conquest cheats. colonial conquest steam. european colonial conquest late 15th century. colonial conquest magazine. colonial vs conquest. colonial conquest deutsch. colonial conquest in nigeria. colonial conquest apk free download. colonial conquest ps4. colonial conquest jeu. colonial conquest definition. colonial conquest apk. colonial conquest tutorial. colonial conquest download android. colonial conquest apk free. colonial conquest igg. colonial conquest apk download. conquest or colonial. european colonial conquest. colonial war of conquest. colonial conquest mac. colonial conquest free android. colonial conquest android. colonial conquest 1985. european colonial conquest in late 15th century. colonial conquest ipad. colonial conquest mod. colonial conquest ios review. european colonial conquest late fifteenth century. colonial conquest download pc. colonial conquest 2 amiga. colonial conquest c64. colonial conquest online. colonial conquest (2015) обзор. colonial conquest test. british colonial conquest in nigeria. colonial conquest crack fr. colonial conquest 2. colonial conquest manual. colonial conquest android oyun club. colonial conquest cb eu4. colonial conquest full apk. colonial conquest multiplayer. colonial conquest of nigeria. colonial conquest download. colonial conquest trainer. colonial conquest of chile. colonial conquest rules. colonial conquest gameplay español. colonial conquest ssi. colonial conquest apk indir The visuals are quite nice, with a lovely boardgame-like map to play on, and nice detailing and backgrounds on the menus. They certainly got their hands on a good artist. What you see in the screenshots is exactly what you get. Unfortunately that is the ONLY thing you get. What the game promises, and what it delivers, are two very different things. The video on the store page suggests a cunning and strategic game of influence and military control over the uncivilized regions of the globe, but don't be fooled: The game itself plays rather like a game of Risk where you can't see your opponent's pieces and every coastal territory is adjacent. The game proceeds through 4 seasons each year, with the Spring phase being where you do everything, and the Summer, Fall and Winter being largely wastes of time. Troops can be moved around in every season, but it is only in the Spring that you can perform essential actions such as Espionage, Collect Income, and build troops (which can be used immediately). Espionage is the ONLY way you have of learning about the world. The stats of all provinces are mysterious to you. That troop numbers might be hidden to you is understandable...but their Income and Victory-Point value as well? It is impossible to make any strategic decisions in the game without espionage, but this can only be done in the Springtime and anything you neglected to scout then remains invisible to you for the rest of the year.Attacking territories has a strong defender's advantage. The defending troops get to fire first and inflict losses first before the remaining attackers get their chance to fire. In fortified territories the defenders get two rounds in the opening phase of combat, and in industrial centers they fight at double-strength all the time. It is entirely possible to have your entire attacking force be massacred in the first wave if you bring insufficient troops to the fight. But that's a big IF. You see, a player will quickly figure out that if you attack with ENOUGH troops, you can just eat the first wave of fire, and then obliterate the defenders on your turn. Anything less than overkill is wasted lives. The power of an army is proportional to the square of their numbers, and you would be a fool to attack with anything short of a "Stack of Doom".Optimal play will then result in each player gathering their troops together into a massive army coupled with a massive fleet with which to ferry it to any shore in the world. The game becomes like a blind-folded knife fight. Guided by weak and out-of date intel and random guessing, the armies flail at one another hoping to stab each other's vital territories when they are insufficiently defended, block imagined or anticipated moves, and attempt violent retribution when injured. Against an AI with random moves, it is nothing but a guessing game. Now though I might fault Argonauts Interactive for any number of game design sins here, a little bit of internet research revealed that this is a re-make of an old SSI title from 1991 also helfully called Colonial Conquest. All of the games sins are in fact ORIGINAL SINS.correction: Argonauts actually changed the combat formula in this version in a way that negatively impacts the game balance. The product that Argonauts Interactive is bringing us is a Faithful Re-Creation of that old game. Some praise is due to them for reviving a retro-gaming classic. ...But they don't need all that much more praise, since they already had a successful Kickstarter campaign. And really: if you're going to resurrect a classic game from the '90s, shouldn't you pick one that was actually good? correction: the original was from the '80s and is in fact decently enjoyable. What we have is a skilled team who have brought us a broken classic. The original wasn't any good, and so the remake isn't any good. This game has the potential to become good, but this can only happen if the developers abandon their nostalgia and change this into a NEW game.Update:I have done some research on the original game, and found to my surprise and pleasure that it did NOT descend into a blindfolded knife-fight. The 1985 SSI classic is a better game than I had been lead to believe. Better than this game in fact. The developers made a mistake in their implementation of the combat system, and this change wrecked the game balance present in the original. A windows-compatible version of the Original can be found here for comparison: http:\/\/lightquick.co.uk\/coconet-version-1.0-ssi-colonial-conquest-is-back.htmlThere is still much work that needs to be done before I can honestly recommend Argonauts-Interactive's game.. Pros: It's sorta like a bad version of Risk.Cons: Magic teleporting fleets can attack any point on the globe, rendering naval tactics nonexistent and a migraine setting in when the enemy AI gleefully raids every single point in the world with small armies you need to painfully deal with each turn.No diplomatic AI.Some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥t where the AI keeps feeding money to unclaimed regions, leading to hilarious moments like Tibet being literally impossible to conquer. Witness neutral regions fielding armies in the 10,000 unit plus category, shattering any record held by actual players.Could have been a fun little game. It very much is not.. This is a very simple but largely satisfying strategy game. I hope the developers continue to improve and expand on it. I wish that there was just a little more to it. To really hold my attention it needs three simple things... Artillary, cavalry and officers. The artillary and cavalry would give it that "rock\/paper\/scissors" aspect so that it's not just a numbers game... and officers could affect the efficiency of your troops (A Sergeant for instance could add 10% to your troops making a force of 100 fight like a force of 110, escalatng from there) Generals could be expensive but any officer that survives a battle could get a field promotion. SOmething like that that could give it a little more strategy. That being said I really enjoy the game it's a great palette cleanser after a session of EU or TW.. I've made reviews in the past that weren't super short, but this one might end up being such. Why? There's very little game to speak of. You get money, make dudes, send them to die/capture territory for more money to make more dudes (but defense has so many buffs it's nearly impossible in my experience to get anywhere). There's a couple things like giving aid to neutral countries, alternate starting dates, and bribing the garrison of a territory that make it slightly different than the free iOS app I got a while back I think called World Conquest (though I may be wrong about the title).Get this on sale, it's not worth the I think $10 they charge.. Such a simple game that it gets repetive quickly. Simple combat, simple movement, simple development, etc. Other people have written that it is like Risk and it is. However, while Risk involves friends and semi-transparent alliances, this game offers nothing but building and moving armies around. No diplomacy. No alliances. Not even technological advances. If I had no other strategy games to choose from (late 80s), I would have loved this game, but I can't really get into it now. Too simple to be fun.. Its a fun game, its hard tho lol. I am so mixed about this game. When Colonial Conquest first came out on the Commodore 64 (in 1985 - heyoo), it was incredible, to the extent that it remains one of my top games of all time. This version, sadly, pales in comparison. I want it to be good, but, apart from improved graphics (not 30 years' worth, mind you), it is inferior to the original. Which is a shame. Yes I have played a bunch of hours on it (did I mention that the original Colonial Conquest was one of my favourites?) ... but I cannot recommend this in good conscience. The random events are a joke. It's mindless fun. Certainly worth $5.
